I'm still pretty 'green' as far as the calendar knows (one month of MYO), but I've come a l-o-n-g way, baby....LOL

So far I've made up to 5 different blends in a day, and have discovered that half-pint glass canning jars, Ball brand, make excellent airtight storage containers as they hold about 32 KS sticks. A piece of tape on the lid for identification of the blend. For my 'on the go' mode, I dug out some little ....mmmmmm, what I think might be cassette cases (soft, clear) with a flip-top lid (bought 4 of these at a Dollar store a few years ago)....they hold 14 sticks each and are air tight. My sticks fit perfectly in them, so there is little to no jostling; hence only a few flakes of fallout at any given time. I also have a few other cigarette cases (Zig Zag, Top with the dividers, Gambler metal) but so far I like the compactness of the cassette cases....and will occasionally mix 2 or 3 different blends into one case, for the element of surprise in the course of the day. :smopuff:

That's a good idea, I've got a ton of those, my mom cans green chile, tomato's, etc. But if I don't bring 'em back to her, I might not get my chile fix. That would be bad.

With all the samples I ordered from American Thrust and the blends I've tried, I needed a easy system to keep track. First I was using a couple of travel soap containers that I picked up at Wally World for a buck apiece. They actually fit a 100 perfectly and have a fairly tight seal. I used a sharpie to label and just used a little alcohol to remove and remark when it changed. I've kept those for experiments in blending or new acquisitions.

Since decent cheap 100s cases are hard to find, I popped for a box of the zig zag blue pull apart cases from LBSS. I left the UPC sticker on the bottom and wrote on that when I was still trying lots of samples to find a good everyday smoke. But now all the zig zags are filled with my daily mix of mostly Rowland Plat. I have a witz case and a generic white pull-apart I keep filled with Bali Blue.

Right now all 12 zig zag cases fit in a big glass jar like you'd keep coffee in from Walmart. I keep a really short wide mouth mason jar filled with Heartfelt beads and a screen under the band at the bottom for moisture. The RH seems to stay dead steady. My daily loose tobacco is in a slightly smaller matching jar with the mason jar on top of the tobacco. Keeps me from diving into the big box too often and crashing the humidity. Is there anything mason jars can't do?

All of it including my stuffing tray and half a dozen boxes of tubes are in a leather covered storage bench in my living room. Handy yet hidden. Works for me.

I only have about six of those little jars left, after giving a friend one. I never actually counted the sticks when I made the above post....I used hubby's figure of 32, but friend informed me that she got 37 KS sticks into her jar. Also, those jars aren't all that expensive to buy....a case of 12-jars at Family Dollar was priced $7.50 last week. They might be considered a seasonal item, so I just may go back and buy me a case since hubby likes to swipe mine without asking. At any rate, they are wonderful for keeping my sticks fresh.

Barjer54. . .
Thanks for the tip on "cassette cases" to hold smokes.
What seems obvious becomes overlooked at times, doesn't it?
Appreciate it since I have a ton of these laying around in storage.

Well, they're not exactly "cassette cases", hence the quotation. They are actually one inch shorter and soft plastic with no spool notches, vs actual cassette cases which are hard plastic and notched. They're just a "whatnot" case I picked up somewhere over the years and used for toting meds or stashing extra $$ in . If I knew where to get more, I'd buy a few dozen. Sorry for the ambiguity in the original post. What else can I say?

Right now i use ramback elite w/ryback gold and vera cruz eleganté with three sails. i can also tell by looking at the tobacco. I've been doing this since march '08 and i am pretty good at figuring out whats what if I've seen/smoked it before.
