mrdtools says:
I experimented with some brass tubing, made a nozzle for my PS that will fit the ultra slim tubes using 2 different size brass tubing, soldering the two together, tapering the spoon side and trying. Bingo, it works!

Are you able to stuff consistently with that mod mrdtools, or does the different amounts of tobacco used make for haphazard results? I can imagine that would make for some very tight sticks if. If they work consistently though put me down for one too!

Wow! Now that sounds like an extreme mod, that I'm sure would generate new interest in the Ultra Slim tubes, have any pictures mike?

I ordered the Ramback Ultra Slim in July, and I still have 90% of the box. They are very nice tubes, but the injector is a little difficult to get used to. I somehow always jam it 2 or 3 times (I only make about five of those at a time.)

On the side of the box, it say that they have a 20mm high density filter. but on any other side it will say they have brown cork tipped 20mm filter. Which one is right? Does anyone know?

If I understand your question correctly, because I might not, these tubes do have a 20mm, High Density, brown corked tip. So both are correct, unless I'm missing the question?

That little injector is very sensitive to the amount of tobacco used, if you use just a bit too much it has the tendancy to jam. Hopefully the rumored EXP2000 will be eventually be released, because I have several boxes of these tubes as well which I rarely use. That would make the slim tubes a great alternative format and save you tons of money without the hassle of an HH. ;)

Don't both Top o Matic and Supermatic make replacement tubes? Why don't they just make the different sizes of tubes to be used on the machines? Would that work? Would the spoon that inserts the tobacco be too big for the ultra slims? :?:

I like the ultra slims a lot and tho I ordered a supermatic am using the D&R ultra slim HH injector to make my smokes. I use the table top to make the Hubby's smokes.

I have some of the Rizla concept tubes on the way in hopes we can find a tube we both like that can be used on the Supermatic.

It would be a very difficult modification. Standard Kings hold about 1g of tobacco, from my use the 6.5's only hold about .7g. You would have to modify the Tube, Chamber and Spoon. Or weigh out ever stick if you just did the Tube and spoon. I love the Little sticks but only smoke them with my shag tobacco and on weekends when I have more time to fool with it.

Have you tried the Rizla Cigarette Size yet? Its slimmer and I have no problems using them on my supermatic. Its more of a Mild tube due to the 20mm filter.

"Rizla Cigarette Size" ? Isn't that the one they call the Rizla Concept? Or do you mean the Regular Rizla is also smaller diameter?

I have pretty much decided which tobacco I will be using for my every day smoke but the tube to use is still very much up in the air.

kl61 wrote:I always thought that Ramback Balkan tasted better in a thin stick so I had to roll them myself, using the drop-in filter in the rolling paper. So needless to say it was cone shaped cause the filter is not all that thin. There is a bit of a learning curve using an injector and a tube that's that thin (6.5mm). The filter is 20mm long, the paper is tasteless, thin and cork colored tipping with the same cool Ramback print job. I can see why it's part of the Ramback line of tubes, it's a perfect match to the tobacco.

The Ramback 6.5mm compliments their Elite line, a same scaled-down miniature which retains the 20mm filter, presumably the high-density Elite employs to distinguish it regular Ramback Kings (with low-density filters).

Not much, really, to D&R's 6.5mm slide injector. Other than initially having to figure that a loose included plastic piece is for compressing tobacco in the chamber. Seriously thought I must still be on an automatic with the D&R, hand-dumping only tobacco into the chamber channel, and that a protruding slot above on upper assembly, somehow, would do all the rest. One jamming machine for $10, until I re-picked up the compressor piece and looked over the machine, figuring its usage.

Different from Elites, though, these 6.5mm cigarettes have a sharp, cutting edge. One, a slider simply isn't going compress an automatic's efficiency: looser packs means hotter and harsher;- Two, Ramback's 6.55mm design proportions do not impede the draw -- draw as hard on a regular king, and Ramback 6.5mm certainly won't slow its burning down the tube all the faster.

Does have the benefit that tobacco characteristics are closer to apparent, provided that apparency is acceptable. King-light filter tubes -- Rizla+, Gizeh Silver Tip Charcoal, Ramback Elite, ZigZag and Zen Light 100mm -- all have tobacco-filtering mass which initially lightens the smoke and variously (manufacturer tube design factors) affects flavoring. Not a bad sort of tester, Ramback's 6.5mm, although it's probably safe to assume, given sufficient quantity, that your throat may also notice aspects of their transparency.

Had hopeful expectations, although I don't think this tube is worth giving up my stock of aforementioned, thicker light tubes. :coffee:

I bought a D&R 6.5mm slide injector with a box of the Ramback ultra slim tubes earlier this year. Tried them out once and chalked it up as a novelty item. Occasionally I want to have a quick smoke and find myself putting out a king size cig about halfway through. I remembered that I had bought the slim machine and tubes and tried it again tonight. The machine is very easy to use, you just have to make sure you tamp the tobacco down in the chamber. Tried it tonight with some PS Danish Export. What a great little smoke I made. The flavor came through just fine. This tube doesn't add any harshness, bad taste, etc. I'll be smoking some more of these and plan on trying this setup with some more of my favorite tobacco.
