just wanting to get some further feedback on this idea before i begin and destroy any baccy. waste not want not.

The primary problem with blending tobaccos is that they are clumped together. Imagine putting 5 tumble weeds in a cement truck and trying to get them to blend together...that's kinda the same thing we're trying to do. The tumble weeds need to be teased apart and layered to get them to homogenize.

I "liberated" a large stainless steel mixing bowl from the pantry. I measure out my blend ratio and dump it in. Then I can mix it pretty gently by just kinda "rolling" it up the sides of the bowl.

I blend the shake first, the bottom of the bags of whatever. Blending the shake with the shake...

you can lose the flavors of all tobaccos involved blending a whole mess of it at once...

Much of the tobaccos look the same and it's hard to know if I'm getting it properly mixed. Right now I just plop some of A and some of B on my stuffing station board and try to mix by hand. The stuff is all kind of 'stringy' and tends to clump together, making the mixing process all that more difficult for me.

Not crying or anything...just wondering if I'm overlooking an easier way to do it.

Large enough bowl to gently lift from the bottom to fold over onto the top, rotated occasionally at 90 deg. Bowl should be comfortably large, although I use a large plastic container. Three or four tobaccos, 8 or more ounces at a time, although only a couple blends predominate in bulk. Little shake left after it's all been stuffed goes into a cellophane bag for off and stronger blends I like in a 6.5mm slide injector. No moisture considerations when out of bag and fresh, but left alone on the drier side -- only keep enough as backstock to refill the primary cigarette container at day or two ahead. That's where I keep moist sponges wrapped in strips I've cut from plastic air filtering for a/c or computer units -- tube butts not tips facing the sponge. Everything in pretty much Walmart plastic food containers, an old, decorative lithograph tin tray with the sides angled up (picture wall hanging or shelve type tray) for the Supermatic, catches any tobacco from the top, which finally I'll use lay to out rows and dress individual twists with a manicure scissor after tamping out batches of twenty. 50 or so cigs in half-an-hour.

There I was, sitting in my Tobacco Office (in the basement) picking my nose, wondering what to do with some Indo Shag. I don't really go for it straight, and don't wanna blow it blending the whole pouch and not liking the result. LIGHT BULB !!
I stuffed 2/3 of the SM tobacco slot with TGS Natural and slid it over to the left. Then pinched in the Indo Shag to the right, not mixed. Result was a smashing success. Tastes really smooth with enough nicotine kick to satisfy. Much better than mix-blending ever was, IMHO. Then I tried the same method with AmShag, and the result was good, but not as good as the Indo. I had never read of any one trying this, although I am sure I am not the first. Plus it makes the relatively hard to get Indo last longer, and gives a nice extra kick to the Good Stuff Natural.
Try it, you might like it. :coffee:
