I put a couple crystals in my weekly stuffed sticks, if they need a bit.
I mentolate bulk stock by putting a crystal in the bag and nuking it for 30 seconds.
I keep my menthol tubes flavored by throwing a few crystals in the bottom of the storage container.

A little goes a long, long way.

I have been experimenting with the menthol flavoring I got from seedman.com.......more mint than menthol, even when applied at 2 or 3 times the recommended rate.

Since I am looking for a strong menthol, I have ordered a pound of 100% menthol crystals from mountain Rose.

Anybody know how much menthol crystals I should use per/lb of tobacco? Just looking for a starting point...yep, got scales.

Gonna try several methods:
1. Dissolve in everclear or vodka and spray.
2. Place crystals in tupperware with sticks or loose, and heat quickly in microwave till crystals vaporize.
3. Just put crystals in with sticks or loose, and wait.
4. Mix into the menthol flavoring from seedman and see if i can kick it up a notch. (looks like a glycerin/water solution)

I am not a menthol smoker myself, but am making for a friend. She LOVES Wingate Gold in both 100s and kings, and in both regular and menthol tubes. I have also been blending for her: 4 parts WG to 1 part TT for a little extra body (and nicotine) which she enjoys, but the one that REALLY got her attention was 4 parts WG to 1 part Picayune....."Wow, this is really good" Her "after dinner" smoke is now a "mentho-pick"

Got a pound of 100% menthol crystals from Mountain Rose..$33 +s+h.....so how much, and how to apply?

..and again; Not a menthol smoker myself but...This is the REAL THING!

These are clear white crystals, that dissolve easily in everclear, vodka, or, with a lot of shaking, in VERY warm tap water. Yes, they are visually interesting!...but don't touch! (more later)

I am using cheap spray bottles from wally world to spray (a pound at a time) and mix by hand..be sure to rinse the bottle with lots of hot water after, even in small amounts the crystal formations are impressive! And may completely stop up a sprayer!


2.5 GRAMS will produce a STRONG menthol taste in a 14 OZ bag.... YEP 2.5 GRAMS!


BTW: if you are handling menthol ( mixing tobacco while spraying) ...make sure you wash your hands with lots of HOT water & soap. Do not rub your face or eyes, and never make a trip to the "boys room" with this on your hands!!!

G'Day -- here's what I do when I want a menthol kick -- I have a couple of old cigar boxes -- small ones -- I've impregnated one with peppermint essential oil and the other with clove essential oil (just a few drops inside) -- I'm a RYO -- I keep a supply of filters in each -- the essential oils infuse into the filters and hey presto -- real live mint/clove taste -- works real well and I guess you could put your tubes in there if you use a machine -- AND experiment with other essential oils -- frankincense anyone?

Since one Member (Nimrod) noted that 2 1/2 grams of pure menthol crystals was enough to mentholate an entire pound of tobacco, I don't need much - two or three ounces would be plenty, and shipping would be cheap.

In return, I will post some recipes and recommendations for everyone and either swap some tobacco with you (I have a LOT of it and many varieties) or send you a check. PM me if you're interested and can help me out.

Thanks for the link, dhack. I saved it for future reference. However, just today I received 3 ounces of menthol crystals from Nimrod (Thanks!), and that should do for quite a while. I'll post any results from my trials as I get to them.
