Hello. My first post here, but I've been an RYO smoker on and off for quite some time, especially when I spent a year in Iraq.
I was rather heartbroken learning about the SCHIP bill, and missing a chance to try a number of D&R's popular tobaccos, specifically Rowland Plat, in the original cigarette cut. Rowland regular, being one of my favorites, I found and ordered from American Thrust, and like this bag of Windsail, it came in an old bag with the same simple "PIPE TOBACCO" sticker put over the old label. This is a very fine pipe tobacco cut, and I will gladly provide photos if anyone thinks I should.
But before jumping to conclusions regarding the legality of relabeling these bags, does anyone know what the rules and regulations are and where I could find them? I am reminded of the sale of "waterpipes" for "tobacco use only," which as we all know, are pretty obviously NOT just for tobacco use. But as long as you have a sign somewhere that says "tobacco use only," and as long as you refer to waterpipes as waterpipes and not something else, you're in the clear.
I have faith in D&R, and I find it rather unlikely that they would jeopardize their entire business out of laziness, or simply to be able to use up old bags and labels. I'm sure they know what they're doing.
While I've struggled with the SCHIP bill, and the many contradictory and ridiculous aspects of the new taxes (such as the notion of funding a program through taxing an item that at the same time, they claim taxing it, will help curtail use). But I must say that tobacco is a luxury item, and it seems a small price to pay when I think about chlidren who truly do need the services SCHIP ostensibly provides. But then again, I am a combat veteran, and the notion of sacrificing my own gains for the better of the nation comes almost as an instinct at this point.
Politics aside, everything about this recent batch is exactly like the older batches of Rowland I have smoked. I can't WAIT to be able to try RowPlat soon!!
