I seem to have an odd love/hate relationship with Virginias. I don't care at all for Bali Red (although it does have some oriental), I find Windsail rather dull (although WinPlat is better), Canoe English seems a little too mild and uninteresting, but I love PS London Export (the toppings are probably a factor). Having tried all of the commercially available halfzwares and settled on two menthol blends (of my own making) that I like, I'm now in my "try out the Virginia blends" phase.
My last D&R order was quite varied and included Three Sails, WinPlat, and Penhooker. The WinPlat's a good smoke but doesn't really "grab" me - which is O.K. because I got it, like the Ramback, mainly for blending. The Three Sails has a trace of the harshness/vinegar-y bitterness that I don't like about Bali Red, but I prefer the flavor over the BR. It's not bad overall, but a 10/2 of it will be enough.
The blend I liked best of those three from the very first smoke was definitely the Penhooker. Although it's somewhat stronger-flavored than the PS LE - with a different kind of "richness" to the smoke, it's equally flavorful and has the level of "smoothness/mildness" I like - not too much, not too little. I like to know that I'm smoking somthing. The PS LE is my only 10/10 blend right now, but I'd rank Penhooker just below it, and it will definitely be a daily smoke for me. In addition, although I'm not a fan of "light" blends and wouldn't normally order any, I'll probably order some Penhooker Light next time around as well to check it out.

Smoke 'em if you got 'em! After all, it's for the children.
