Unless they are stocking something new, the last I heard they buy D&R in bulk and relabel it as their own house blends, I think their natural is actually Windsail or Windsail Plat.

I, too, am looking for organic tobacco and want to buy in bulk. For sure, NAS has a corner on the market. Throughout the years, I've given those guys more money than I can stand. I'll not do it anymore.
If anyone knows of a source-- please tell!

I guess it all boils down to your definition of "soon". :D

(BTW, one of my favorite songs from the 80s is "How Soon is Now?" by The Smiths...)

It's possible that the project is moving forward again, but the last I was told by Mark was that the project was on hold indefinately due to problems with the organic leaf supplier he had originally lined up.

I'll try to get an update on the project's status next week.

According to the homepage on Trisha's Cafe, it looks like these are in the works for introduction!

And be sure to check out G's fascinating thread about the health implications of organic tobacco here. [NOTE: this link only works for Validated forum Members]

I agree and then Mr. Ryan would not have to stay with one crop, so he could keep the soil healthy with other plants that he could sell to wholesalers.

Why not just make a tobacco that would meet most discriminating smokers desires to be as natural as possible without having to go through the friggin govt. certification process.

Like when you go to the supermarket and you see chicken that states it is steroid and hormone free yet is not labelled organic possibly due to some ridiculous requirement by the government.

I think the tobacco being grown without fertilizers and pesticides would satisfy a lot of people when it comes to desiring a more natural product yes?

For all we know the govt. has decided to be organic the plant must be surrounded by a hundred square feet of soil with no apparent plant of any kind within stated area. Which would be a ridiculous requirement which I'm sure many agree would have no real bearing on the plant being organic but would seriously raise the price because of all the land it would require.

Sonuva... again! :( Man, I'm away for a few months and when I come back there's all kinds of bad news! First that BS RYO attack tax taking D&R out of the 'baccy biz, and now they're canceling their organic lines that were supposed to be available by now. I ONLY smoke organic tobaccy, and the only kind that seems to be available is American Spirit's. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE American Spirit's Organic rolling tobacco, but some variety would have been nice. I would also really like to see organic tobacco become more widely available. I think if more people knew the benefits of organic tobacco, or more accurately the dangers of non-organic tobacco(I will post a thread with links about that when I get some free time); a LOT of people would make the switch. Organic tobacco is VERY different than tobacco with no additives, it is how it is GROWN. No pesticides or synthetic fertilizers are used(hint: if you're curious and impatient, the fertilizer used is the worst element of regular tobacco). It sounds like one of the reasons organic tobacco is so rare is the prohibitive and excessively bureaucratic rules that dictate how it must be grown to qualify. Double-damn the man!!
